Today
like some nasty movie
I watch and mourn
this awful lapse of humanity
where a frightened horde
mouths fear,
focussing ahead
on a sort of survival.
Their tears of brine drip
from iron ruins smelted
allowed a sweetness
(taken sadly for granted)
that familiar cloth of living
now ripped apart,
to tease and threaten us all.
Help us renew, dear God
peace to battered Ukraine.
Refer to: … I’ll put a Wordle round the earth…
‘Collateral damage’ is the euphemistic term for civilian casualties in war
Brilliant application of the prescribed words to a searing evocation of tragic current events.
Great adaption of the words to the current crisis, the momentous issue of our time.
