Struggle

Is idleness quite all it means to be?
In indolence a restless spirit’s found.
Struggle procures, in time, a rare beauty.

In lazy lines I’m tied to being free
When workless choices hold me double bound
Is idleness quite all it means to be?

Within, incarcerated, we are free,
Stretched out on summer towels we seem unwound.
Struggle procures, in time, a rare beauty.

Retirement from safe distance beckons me,
The home-made bread, the shed, the golfing round.
Is idleness quite all it means to be?

Past time saw time precise for taking tea,
But now to lose control ranks as profound.
Struggle procures, in time, a rare beauty.

These thoughts lie down on paper easily
How do we make them, in our lives, resound?
Is idleness quite all it means to be?
Struggle procures, in time, a rare beauty.
